Description

Function Summary:

The primary duties of this position are to set up, and program CNC manual mills and lathes. Use precision measuring equipment to ensure products are manufactured to the design. Read and understand standard work instructions to complete a task. Work in a team environment to efficiently meet the expectations of the department.  

Essential Functions/Key Accountabilities:          

  1. Follow direction provided by Supervisor or designee.
  2. Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to, and enforcing, all safety procedures and policies inside and outside the facility, including use of personal protective and McLanahan equipment as required.
  3. Represent McLanahan Corporation in a positive manner both internally and externally while adhering to the organization’s core values.
  4. Communicate effectively with co-workers, management, customers, and others in a courteous and professional manner.
  5. Ability to read and understand blue prints and drawings to manufacture parts to the specifications.
  6. Ability to set up and edit CNC Machine programs, and/or milling machines and lathes utilizing the proper equipment to ensure machines is set up correctly to perform the needed operation.
  7. Ability to perform daily maintenance of CNC/Manual Machinery.  
  8. Ability to read, interpret and follow standard operation procedures to ensure a consistent approach to manufacturing. 
  9. Willing to work assigned shift and overtime at the discretion of management.
  10. Perform daily and regular cleaning of machines, equipment and work area.
  11. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  12. Excellent work ethics and willingness to make suggestions to improve the work environment.
  13. Hold prescribed tolerances using precision measuring instruments such as micrometer, calipers, and gauges.
  14. Ability to understand and utilize programming software for applicable CNC machines. 
Qualifications

Educational/Other Requirements:

  1. Two (2) years of experience in a machining role in a production environment.
  2. Experience using measuring tools, mics, calipers, dial indicators, etc.
  3. Demonstrated experience in set up, programming and operation of CNC Machine, Mills and Lathes. Successful candidates should have prior understanding, and or experience in CNC programming.
  4. Experience with Master Cam is preferred.
  5. Prior experience rigging and positioning heavy equipment using Jib hoists/overhead cranes.
  6. Ability to select and or grind specialty tools for the required task.
  7. Full knowledge of working properties of different metals and alloys and the proper cutting feeds and speeds to use on each with different types of cutting tools.
  8. Prior experience reading and understanding blue prints to build a product.
  9. Prior experience working in a Lean manufacturing/ISO environment.
  10. Knowledge and ability to apply shop mathematics, charts, and tables.
  11. Ability to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  12. Work in a team environment to successfully reach company goals in an environment in which a wide degree of creativity and latitude is required.
  13. High School diploma or equivalent (GED) or other sufficient training/experience with approval of the hiring supervisor/manager, one level above, and the Human Resources Department.

Physical Requirements:

This position is typically located in a manufacturing setting and requires sitting and standing for long periods of time. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, visual acuity to use a keyboard, and operate standard office equipment. Requires the ability to express or exchange ideas by means of both verbal and written communication. Ability to manipulate (carry, lift, move) objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
