Transporter

Summary Drives company vehicle to transport individuals/clients between their residences and Gateway.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Transports individuals/clients to and from Gateway and their residences.
• Transports individuals/clients to and from Gateway for medical appointments and other appointments as needed during program hours.
• Ensures that individuals/clients sign in and out when they are transported.
• Assists in the coordination of all transportation related matters for Gateway Counseling Center, Inc. This includes ensuring the presence of female escorts when female individuals are being transported.
• Serves as an escort for individuals/clients being transported when called upon to do so for community activities.
• Follows all GCC Driving Protocols and NYS Driving Laws.
• Reports all incidents or allegations related to Individuals to Supervisor immediately upon discovery and follows Justice Center rules and regulations.
• Performs miscellaneous related duties and work assignments as directed OPWDD Directors and Supervisors.
• Perform any other agency duties as assigned by the Transportation Supervisor(s) and Director of Transportation.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on- one and small group situations clients, supervisors, and other employees of the organization.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

Other Qualifications

New York State Driver’s License with no points or minor violations.
