Seattle's Union Gospel Mission is currently looking for a Transitional Programs Administrator to join the Women and Children's Ministries team in Seattle, WA.

The Transitional Programs Administrator is a senior leadership position within the Women and Children's Ministries (WCM) Department. This position oversees the WCM transitional living programs, graduate programs, aftercare, and career and education programs. This will include: spiritual leadership; staff scheduling, guidance, supervision, programming decisions and delegation of tasks where appropriate.

Essential Job Duties


  1. Manage WCM transitional living properties, including overseeing facility safety and cleanliness, screening of applicants and development and implementation of support services and programming for residents.
  2. Supervise the Transitional Living Case Manager at Renovo.
  3. Supervise the Career and Education Specialist at Hope Place and ensure the development and implementation of education, career development and job placement programming for program participants.
  4. Meet with direct reports weekly to discuss program issues, resident challenges and opportunities.
  5. Provide organizational, spiritual, and administrative leadership to all direct reports, staff and volunteers, including hiring, training, development, scheduling, coaching and performance management.
  6. Conduct crisis counseling/intervention when needed and recommend appropriate resources or action. Ensure residents are meeting their assigned goals as it pertains to their program, and that they are adhering to program policies.
  7. Oversee the implementation and maintenance of professional-quality case management files for assigned residents as outlined in the WCM/PM guidelines.
  8. Meet weekly with Senior Director of Women and Children's Ministries to discuss status of programs and caseloads.
  9. Record, report, and maintain records, monthly statistical reports and narratives as required.
  10. Facilitate resident meetings, support groups and conduct devotions and Bible studies as needed.
  11. Actively participate in the grace/choice-based programming, including participating in the self-evaluation process personally, asking questions during Community Meetings and leading others to self-evaluation.
  12. Work proactively with WCM leadership team, Mission staff and ministry partners to continually develop and improve quality services provided to homeless individuals and families, staying on top of any potential problematic operational issues.
  13. Maintain a positive, pleasant, professional Christian attitude. Work with other staff to forge and model transparent and supportive Christian relationships which will serve as a leadership example for program residents or emergency services guests.
  14. Work effectively with colleagues throughout the Mission's organization to achieve ministry objectives, maintaining good communication and working relationships
  15. Attend and participate in all Mission, Division and Department meetings and trainings, as required.
  16. Any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  1. The successful candidate will have an active church/prayer life and demonstrate a strong desire to serve the Mission by ministering to those whom it serves, through service and a respectful and relational approach to sharing the Gospel.

  3. Sensitivity to cultural diversity is required.

  6. Possess a valid Washington State Drivers License and be able to meet the standards of the Mission driver criteria required, including but not limited to:
    1. Clean driving record
    2. No current suspensions or revocations
    3. At least 21 years of age
  7. Agreement with the purpose of Mission programs and the grace-based team approach to ministry.
  8. Demonstrated understanding of trauma informed care
  9. Concerned, caring heart for needy individuals and families and a willingness to address unhealthy patterns and program compliance issues consistently and respectfully.
  10. Strong leadership skills.
  11. Ability to work in cooperation with other Mission staff.
  12. Strong love for the Lord and for people.

Physical Requirements

  1. Ability to stand, walk or sit for extended periods of time; bend, stoop or reach.
  2. Regularly lift and/or carry up to 25 pounds.
  3. Talk on telephone and use computer extensively.



Bachelors degree or equivalent experience required.



Prior work experience in rescue mission context highly preferred. One year of case management experience required. Demonstrated ability to effectively lead a team preferred.
