Description

Seattle's Union Gospel Mission is currently looking for a Counselor, Part-Time to join the Women and Children's Ministries team in Seattle, WA.

 

Seattle's Union Gospel Mission is a private faith-based organization that helps the community to reach out with compassion to those who have lost hope. And as a community, we empower one another to build, lead and give back.

 

The Counselor/DV Advocate provides mental health counseling and domestic violence advocacy support for women at Seattle's Union Gospel Mission's Hope Place facility.

 

Our Women and Children's Ministries team is looking for its newest member and we think that could be you!

 

Shift Schedule

25 hours per week.  M-F days, with occasional evening, weekend or holiday shifts.

 

Essential Job Duties

  1. Provide individual mental health counseling for women at Hope Place.
  2. Provide advocacy-based support for women leaving domestic violence situations, including safety planning and assessments.
  3. Maintain appropriate client files; communicate with staff team at Hope Place as needed through Clarity Facility Log and email.
  4. Be willing to be trained and use Lifespan Integration therapy for trauma resolution.
  5. Assist in the development and quality assurance related to trauma-informed practices, policies, and procedures at Hope Place.
  6. Attend and participate in all Mission, Division and Department meetings and training, as required.
  7. Attend training as assigned by supervisor.
  8. Meet with on site and clinical supervisor weekly.
  9. Any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

 

  1. The successful candidate will have an active church/prayer life and demonstrate a strong desire to serve the Mission by ministering to those whom it serves, through service and a respectful and relational approach to sharing the Gospel.
  2. Must agree with Seattles Union Gospel Mission Statement of Faith, Mission and Vision Statements and have a personal ethos and work ethic that reflects the Missions Core Values.
  3. Agreement with the purpose of the Missions programs, the Program Ministry Staff Guidelines and the grace-based team approach to ministry.
  4. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and/or Lifespan Integration.
  5. Ability to teach classes and facilitate groups as needed.
  6. Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  7. Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Word.
  8. Valid Washington State Drivers License and ability to meet the standards of the Missions drivers criteria required; access to reliable transportation (non-Mission) for work-related purposes required.
  9. Ability to successfully pass pre-employment drug and criminal background screenings.
  10. Sensitivity to cultural diversity is required.
  11. LMHCA required or eligible to obtain license

 

 

Physical Requirements

  1. Ability to stand, walk or sit for extended periods of time.
  2. Talk on telephone and use computer extensively.

 

Education

Masters in Counseling or related field.

 

Experience

Experience in the treatment of adults, with a preference for candidates trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and/or Lifespan Integration.
