The Receptionist creates a positive, encouraging and welcoming atmosphere for people who come to Southeast and supports church staff and volunteers as needed.


Essential Functions:

  1. Answer phones and direct calls, along with performing administrative duties for the Operations Director.
  2. Receive and welcome guests as they come into the Church building; directing them and helping them to connect.
  3. Oversee the church and school calendar in the Church Database.
  4. Be the front line in collaborating with the community and Church Ministries regarding building/room usage.
  5. Oversee the accuracy of requests for setups and rooms in the scheduling database.
  6. Oversee invoicing and payments made for building usage, along with drafting Facility Use contracts for outside groups.
  7. Attend weekly calendar meetings and additional calendar meetings, as needed.
  8. Manage the Church and School Wayfinding signage.
  9. Assist the Operations team with administrative duties.
  10. Recruit, train, oversee and build community with the volunteers for coverage (both lunch and when out of the office) and the concierge desk.
  11. Check and distribute mail daily.
  12. Restock kitchen items at The Solomon Centre (Suites 201 & 202) and the Church.
  13. Keep front desk and Concierge communication notebooks updated.
  14. Perform other duties, as needed. 


Time Requirements:

This position will be completed in 32 hours (Monday through Thursday) from 8 am until 4:30 with a half hour break for lunch.  This position may require some evenings, weekends, holidays and annual staff retreat.


Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment and uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, desktop computers and telephones.


Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear and frequently required to sit and/or stand for sustained periods of time; lift, push, pull items in excess of 30 lbs; walk and reach with hands and arms.






  1. Experience in Reception, Customer Experience, or Administrative work preferred.
  2. Ability to manage confidentiality in all aspects of job.
  3. Must be able to handle delicate and sensitive calls and visitors in a professional, friendly, and gentle manner, in person and via the telephone.
  4. Knowledge of a multi-line phone system.
  5. Basic computer skills including Microsoft programs and Web-enabled programs.
  6. Strong attention to detail.
  7. Ability to manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions.
  8. Must be able to work as a team member.
