A-Team Solutions LLC is seeking Certified Phlebotomists to work day and night shifts in the VA Healthcare system.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform phlebotomy (venipuncture) and urine specimen collection on patients ranging from minimally to critically ill who may be hard to draw.

Work as a phlebotomy technician, obtaining venous blood specimens from adults using knowledge of human anatomy, aseptic technique, and phlebotomy material selection (i.e. vacutainer, syringe, butterfly).

Use judgment in selection of phlebotomy site based upon the patient's condition, age group, and type of test to be performed.

Prepare phlebotomy site for proper specimen collection, based upon knowledge of blood specimen types, request forms, anticoagulants and transport conditions testing procedures.

Assist in training other personnel (employees and student trainees) in proper phlebotomy and specimen collection techniques.

Perform processing procedures (centrifugation, splitting specimens into aliquots under the guidance of others, requiring knowledge of the correct type tube, amount of specimen needed, and procedure to be followed according to the test requested).

Perform glucose tolerance testing by administering pretest substances, drawing blood at specific time intervals.

Assist in disinfecting and closing the Phlebotomy Room at the end of shift.

Contact Medical Staff in handling patients in cases of fainting, convulsions, and illness.

Convey to the patient the intention of performing a phlebotomy while showing understanding and empathy for the patient's condition.

Clearly communicate the daily status and problems about the laboratory output to team members and senior management of the service.

Other Certified Phlebotomist duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Fully certified through National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) certified phlebotomy training program.

Minimum one (1) year experience inpatient or outpatient phlebotomy setting

Experience with accessioning of laboratory specimens

Experience with processing of laboratory specimens

Capable of reading standard operating procedures and adhering to them in the current laboratory processes.

Experience using computers

Must be authorized to work in U.S.
