We are looking for a diligent Accountant to join our accounting department. The Accountants responsibilities include maintaining financial records and reports, performing account reconciliations, assisting with budget and close processes, and conducting internal audits. You will also be assisting the accounting manager as needed and respond to information requests by management and for auditing purposes.
To be successful as an Accountant, you should be able to accurately maintain a general ledger and ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). An outstanding staff accountant should also have excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
Responsibilities:
- Leads cross-functional processes to ensure completion of time-sensitive activity to support monthly close process
- Manages accruals and prepaid processes to ensure accurate accounting
- Works with department leaders to review financial information and properly document accounting information for monthly close
- Review and analyze payroll to support bi-weekly payroll process and monthly payroll, PTO, and bonus accruals
- Maintaining financial reports, records, and general ledger accounts
- Performs general cost accounting and other related duties for the organization
- Prepares monthly balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements
- Maintains the general ledger
- Codes invoices, sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and closes the monthly books
- Reconciles bank accounts at least monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks
- Reconciles cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts with a keen eye for accurate accounting
- Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit
- Ensuring compliance with GAAP
- Files tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies
- Coordinates with software vendor to maintain accounting software systems; recommends updates to enhance the accounting software
- Manages the purchasing and invoicing system
- Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures
- Performs other related duties as assigned
