Job Purpose: In collaboration with senior leadership, shape and execute the marketing communications strategy in line with the strategic direction and program requirements of SPCA Tampa Bay.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Essential Functions:

  • In partnership with the Chief Marketing Officer, plan and execute the marketing and communication strategy for SPCA Tampa Bay.
  • Develop marketing initiatives and campaigns, ensuring consistent brand presentation and messaging for all SPCA Tampa Bay programs including SPCA Tampa Bay, Veterinary Center, and programs/services, utilizing but not limited to the company website, social media, print communication, media relations, and advertising.
  • Assist in the management of relationships with media and external PR, advertising and web development agencies.
  • Measure and report performance of marketing campaigns, gain insight and assess against goals, and, with media partners, prepare quarterly reports and editorial calendar with the CMO.
  • Measure and report performance of automated email campaigns, using our CRM tool gain insight on customers, donors, event attendees and prepare quarterly reports with the CMO.
  • Monitor and assist with control of department budget to ensure expenses stay within approved amounts.
  • Collaborates with managers to identify trends and evaluate advertising and storytelling to determine whether it is in sync with the organization’s public relation and marketing efforts.
  • Coordinate with Development/Philanthropy staff to develop special event marketing plans, ensuring project marketing and creative elements meet timeline and applicable expense budget goals.
  • Direct and supervise efforts of Social Outreach Coordinator and Digital Marketing Creator to manage the day-to-day social media channels, promotions, email communications, and digital advertising.
  • Provide effective performance feedback and solicit employee contributions to goals and their personal development plan.
  • Oversee efforts of freelance graphic designer, ensuring consistent branding, timely project completion, correct budget application, and order status.
  • Manage intake and status of all assigned projects, working with outside vendors and facilitating project workflow.
  • Provide friendly, responsive and personalized customer service.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Participate in required meetings and trainings.
  • Professionally represent SPCA Tampa Bay at all times.

Nonessential Functions:

  • Bachelor’s degree.

Licensure or Certification:

  • Valid Florida driver’s license with acceptable driving record.


  • 3 - 5 years of marketing experience
  • Excellent, up-to-date knowledge of communications principles and practices.
  • Strong analytical and project management skills, experience in reporting and data analysis.
  • Strong writing and editing skills.
  • Familiarity with video storytelling, CRM tools, SEO, Google Ads, and corporate website best practices.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with industry style guides (e.g. Chicago Manual of Style or AP Style) a plus.

Physical Demands:

  • Light physical effort – regularly lifting or moving less than 25 pounds.
  • Walking and prolonged standing.
  • Stooping, kneeling, bending and crouching.
  • Carrying, pushing and/or pulling.
  • Occasional exposure to high noise levels, such as in dog kennels.
  • Occasional exposure to animal feces and potential for scratches and bites.
  • Activities require the handling and transporting of SPCA pets.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including some nights and weekends.
  • Community outreach in a variety of environments including indoor and outdoor.
