This is a volunteer position. The volunteer is responsible for day-to-day support of activities, events, and outings at the David’s Harp day treatment program at CBHC. 

 

David’s Harp offers a daytime, clubhouse setting where adults are provided with socialization and skill-building activities such as art and music therapy, occupational therapy, gardening, cooking, meal-sharing, cultural events, and daily community outings, along with therapy that complements their current medical treatment plan. David’s Harp services reduce re-hospitalization, recidivism, and chronic homelessness among some of our most vulnerable community members.

 

Volunteer activities may include:

  • Encourage and model appropriate participation in group activities, events, community outings, and/or other wellness activities. Offer individual assistance to clients participating in activities at the request of clinical staff.
  • Treat all clients, visitors, and team members with respect and dignity.
  • Assist clients in completing daily chores, community responsibilities, and skills-building activities.
  • Comply with the site safety policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to mandatory abuse reporting laws and HIPAA requirements
  • Report witnessed or reported allegations of client abuse or neglect immediately to the program manager or designated lead staff.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information as appropriate
  • Attend daily stand up meetings when on site and monthly staff/volunteer meeting.
  • Coordinate with oncoming shift regarding resident concerns, building/program needs, and any relevant issues to ensure the smooth operation of the program.

 

  • Our age requirement is 18.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, volunteers, and clients.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information and records.
  • Ability to understand the need for and set professional boundaries.
  • Preferred qualifications include completion of coursework in a behavioral sciences field or lived experience of mental illness

 

Guidelines for Volunteers:

  • Our clients are best served by consistent and reliable volunteers.
  • Cascadia Behavioral Healthcare is currently recruiting people able to volunteer Monday-Friday and are willing to make a 3-month commitment.
  • Volunteers must pass a DHS background check.
