Description

Job Description: The Adjunct CNA Instructor is responsible for directing, managing, and evaluating student learning in the classroom and clinical setting as well as assisting the student in meeting the overall goals and objectives of the department.  The instructor monitors and evaluates student performance based on established grading guidelines.  This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy. 

Functions:

  1. Contributes to the overall achievement of the college’s mission and goals through effective instruction in the classroom and clinical setting.

  2. Plans and prepares for classroom and clinical assignments.

  3. Assist students in the integration of theory and practice, specific to the course learning activities.

  4. Evaluates the student’s development of clinical reasoning skills.

  5. Exhibits behavior in support and promotion of residents’ rights.

  6. Conducts appropriate evaluation and assessment of student learning.

  7. Creates and maintains an environment of rapport and respect.

  8. Directly observes and guides students’ learning activities with clients.

  9. Maintains up-to-date accurate records on attendance and student progress.

  10. Participates as a member of the course team in the course’s development and evaluation activities with the lead faculty.

  11. Provides student timely written and oral feedback.

  12. Provides timely and ongoing feedback to the lead faculty regarding individual and group performance in the accomplishment of the course’s outcomes.

  13. Engages in the college community for intraprofessional networking and professional development.

  14. Assists residents in attaining and maintaining functional independence.

  15. Communicates learning expectation and incorporates current technology.

  16. Structures course activities and assignments based on learning outcomes.

  17. Engages in self-assessment of teaching practices and professional development needs.

  18. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

Thorough knowledge in the field of expertise and teaching techniques.  Ability to develop lesson plans and design learning activities aimed at achieving student learning outcomes. Communicate learning expectations through the provision of structured activities and assignments. Ability to instruct, engage students and assess student learning.  Familiarity with college resources available to provide instruction and services or assistance to the student including instructional technology.  Performs other duties as assigned.

 Minimum Qualifications:

  • Licensed Practical Nurse

  • Unencumbered Nursing license

  • Recent hospital or long-term care clinical experience.

  • OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.

Preferred Qualifications: Associate of Science in Nursing. Recent experience in nursing or the long-term care field.

Salary:  Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
