Job Summary:
Child care has become a critical issue highlighted by the ongoing pandemic. In the communities we serve, the necessity for affordable child care has always been a priority, and we have been working specifically with family child care providers (also known as home child care providers) to increase the availability and quality of care.
AVANCE is seeking Business Coaches to provide support and training in the fundamentals of small business management to family child care homes. This is an exciting opportunity for seasoned small business owners, consultants, and managers who are skilled communicators and relationship builders to help build the resiliency of child care businesses. Ideal candidates will lean into the work alongside the business owners and position them for long-term success by building business acumen.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
The Position: Business Coaches are responsible for supporting family child care business owners as they work to strengthen their business. Business Coaches will prioritize helping owners put the systems and structures in place to stabilize and develop their business efforts. In collaboration with business owners, Business Coaches will focus skill building in areas of daily operations strategies and financial planning. Business Coaches will focus on four primary areas of support:
Identifying Need: Thinking strategically and using strong assessment skills, Business Coaches are responsible for effectively and efficiently supporting owners as they build and strengthen their business, and connecting them to resources.

Maximize personal small business experience to identify individual provider needs and use this data to offer high-quality, one-on-one support.

Effectively track business data and use it to establish new processes and recommend systems.
Goal Setting and Action Planning: Drawing on personal expertise and business acumen, Business Coaches will advise and guide family child care providers in all fiscal aspects of small business management.

Help providers set and pursue individual goals based on their demonstrated areas for growth.

Support providers as they learn how to analyze cash flow, prepare budgets, and monitor progress toward goals.
Facilitating Access: Business Coaches will support child care providers in leveraging resources to maintain business sustainability.

support and share resources with child care providers, teaching them how to mitigate risks, reduce costs, manage personnel, operate their business efficiently, and take advantage of grant and loan opportunities that are available.
Collaborating and Building Relationships: Much of AVANCE’s success is rooted in the strength of collaborative relationships. Business Coaches foster a culture that values partnership, embraces Diversity, Equity, Accessibility, Inclusion and Belonging, and is consistent with the values, goals, and objectives of the organization. Business Coaches will stay in communication with other Business Coaches to share best practices and learn from each other through group meetings.

Respond to the concerns of providers and meet weekly goals for outreach to providers.

Network in the community building relationships, engaging in public relations activities such as presentations, active committee participation, and information dissemination via various media outlets.
