Seattle's Union Gospel Mission (“The Mission) is a nonprofit ministry that loves and cares for our homeless neighbors throughout greater Seattle.

About the role

As part of the senior leadership team, this position is responsible for providing human resources leadership and crafting all people-related strategies.  In this role you will:

 

  1. Provide human resources (HR) leadership and management in alignment with the Mission’s mission statement, vision statement, and core values.
  2. Lead, mentor, and engage a diverse team of HR professionals.
  3. Own all People Team functions, including Talent Management, Total Rewards, Employee Relations, and Talent Acquisition, while empowering your team to execute key parts of these areas.
  4. Create and implement strategies to improve our organization’s culture including regularly assessing our cultural health by commissioning employee surveys and providing leadership for the Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Panel.
  5. Participate as an active member of the senior team and department heads to ensure that Mission’s People Team priorities are aligned with overall organizational direction.
Qualifications

About you

  1. You are an experienced HR practitioner (having spent at least ten years in the field), have led a dynamic HR team before (five years), and have served as a senior leader (two years).
  2. You have a Bachelor’s degree and a SPHR or SHRM-CP designation.
  3. You have a commitment to maintaining and growing your knowledge of employment law and human resources best practices.
  4. You are a trusted and strategic advisor who knows how to balance operational and programmatic needs with people initiatives that maximize organizational health.
  5. You agree with Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission Statement of Faith, Mission and Vision Statements and have a personal ethos and work ethic that reflects the Mission’s Core Values.
  6. You have the ability to stand, walk, or sit for an extended period of time; bend stoop, or reach; regularly lift and/or carry up to 20 pounds, and use the telephone and computer extensively with or without reasonable accommodation.
