Tire Works Total Car Care

SUMMARY: Installs new tires, wheels, minor fluid exchanges.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties as assigned.

  • Raises vehicle, with hydraulic jack or hoist, to mount and dismount passenger and light truck tires. Balances tires, using specialized equipment. Inspects and performs flat repairs. General shop maintenance. Shipping, receiving and storing merchandise.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls. The employee frequently is required to walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • General shop maintenance, such as cleaning equipment, painting equipment, sweeping shop and parking lot, and all store clean up.
  • Assists in picking up merchandise,
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
  • Learns alignments, fluid exchanges, and general maintenance repair procedures.

EQUIPMENT USED: Uses computer, calculator, photocopier, fax machine, telephones, torque wrenches, air guns, balancing equipment, tire mounting equipment, alignment equipment, and power lifts.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write information on work orders.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved, written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
