Description

Summary of Position

Oversees design and execution of policies, processes, and controls related to budget administration, cash receipts and cash disbursements, maintenance of contributor and vendor databases and internal and external financial reporting.  Manage accounting team and HR-related finance items including but not limited to payroll, benefits and personnel budget.

 

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher with a background in accounting with at least two years of work experience

  • CPA license required

  • Supervisory experience 

  • Expertise or experience in accounting practices, financing options, tax law pertaining to non profits and payroll regulations 

  • High standards of personal and professional integrity and ability to handle confidential information

  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Google Apps (google sheets)

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to multi-task

  • A member of The Summit Church or willing and able to become a member

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Manage the accounting team

  • Compile and maintain financial records, including maintenance of the general ledger and all subsidiary ledgers

  • Prepare external financial statements and coordinate external audit

  • Design and execute all financial controls, policies, and procedures.  

  • Administer the budget process

  • Monthly and quarterly financial reporting

  • Maintain vendor and contributor databases

  • Manage any unrelated business income filings and recoupment of sales tax paid

  • Review and reconcile payroll, approve PAFs, post payroll to accounting system

  • Manage HR staffing budget including but not limited to all personnel and benefit costs and benefit administration

  • Any and all other tasks necessary to accomplish the vision and mission of the Summit Church as assigned by supervisor
