Position Summary:
The Woodwinds Specialist is a Part-Time position. This individual serves as band faculty, fulfilling sectional duties for Lower and Middle School Band classes, and US Band one-on-one instruction, as needed, supporting the band teachers and teaching woodwinds sectionals. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide sectional instruction for all LS and MS woodwind students, including those in Grade 4 Band, Grade 5 Band, Middle School Beginning Band, and as needed for other bands.
• Collaborate with the band teachers and colleagues to develop and implement the curriculum, including repertoire selection.
• Support band students in school performances including but not limited to assembly performances, chapels, admissions, or advancement events.
• Provide extra help to band students.
• Regularly attend all department and band meetings.
• Other duties as assigned by the Director of Performing Arts and as time permits.

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; Master’s degree preferred 
• Outstanding teaching skills and at least three (3) years teaching Woodwinds/Band in an independent school or equivalent experience 
• A strong background in curriculum and instruction in discipline specific content
• Capacity to lead a full ensemble, preferred
• Possess a collegiality and willingness to collaborate with colleagues
• Ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and promote an inclusive school culture
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
• Commitment to a growth mindset and continuous professional development

Physical Demands:  Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift, and for the majority of the work day. May be required to lift up to 25 pounds.
