Position:  Full Time, Tenure Track Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Physical Therapy

 

Salary: Commensurate with degree and experience

 

The Department of Physical Therapy at Methodist University is seeking a faculty member to join our team of energetic, collaborative and motivated faculty in the entry-level Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program. Responsibilities include teaching in areas of expertise, student advising, clinical practice, scholarship and service to the Department, University, and community. The new faculty appointment is approved to begin in August 2021.

 

Methodist University is a private comprehensive institution grounded in the tradition of liberal arts. The Program is housed in the Thomas R. McLean Health Sciences Building on the main campus. The 38,800 square foot state of the art facility has dedicated classroom space, and research facilities that includes a Gait and Motion Analysis Laboratory, Human Performance Laboratory, a Motor Control Lab, and Mobility Courtyard to allow faculty to engage in their research agenda and direct student research projects. Qualifications

The preferred candidate will have an earned doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, or DSc) from an USDE regionally accredited institution of higher education. Consideration will be given to an applicant with a DPT and ABPTS specialty certification. All candidates must be a Physical Therapist eligible for licensure in the State of North Carolina. A history of scholarly publication, a well-defined, ongoing research agenda and previous teaching experience are preferred. Physical Therapists nearing completion of a terminal doctoral degree (PhD, EdD or DSc) will be considered. Preference will be given to applicants with teaching experience in DPT programs.  Preference may be given to applicants with expertise in the following content areas: acute care, cardiopulmonary, wound care, and clinical education.  Earned ABPTS board certification, and/or residency/fellowship experience is also preferred.  The position requires faculty participation in research, teaching, and service, including committee appointments.
