Position Description

AVANCE's communications coordinator designs and reviews promotional materials, oversees and manages a company's social media presence, researches ways to expand a consumer base.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a Communications Coordinator

  • Designs marketing and promotional materials for the AVANCE
  • Edits all promotional materials before distribution
  • Distributes print and online marketing materials
  • Maintains AVANCE.org website
  • Maintains and implements company presence on social media sites like Twitter and Facebook
  • Writes content for social media, newsletters and print collateral
  • Ensures that all promotional materials are aligned with AVANCE's brand identity.
  • Addresses and resolves any problems that may arise with promotional content or distribution of materials.
Qualifications Required

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 

  • Possesses knowledge of effective marketing strategies 
  • Bilingual preferred 
  • Has demonstrated good graphic design skills 
  • Experience with running social media platforms 
  • Exhibits knowledge of AVANCE's identity, mission, and goals. 
  • Demonstrates strong writing and editing skills 
  • Communicates clearly and effectively 
  • Possesses strong organizational skills 
  • Is detail-oriented 
  • Exhibits excellent interpersonal skills 
  • Is capable of creating and maintaining a network of vendors for promotional events. 
  • Is proficient in the Adobe Creative Cloud 
  • Exhibits proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Power Point, and Outlook 
  • Is capable of thinking creatively and analytically. 
  • Manages time efficiently 
  • Can conduct independent research into target market 
  • Possesses solid problem-solving skills 

Education and Experience 

A communications coordinator will hold a Degree or certification in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, Journalism. 1-3 years of experience working in the marketing and communication sector.
