Located in the Smoky Mountains of Western North Carolina, Lake Junaluska is a conference and retreat center that hosts over 50,000 overnight guests annually. We have over 400 lodging rooms, a campground, and meeting space for up to 2,000 people. All of our facilities are located on a scenic 1,200 acre campus which boasts panoramic views, abundant recreation opportunities, and a 200 acre lake. Our market ranges from youth groups to affluent leisure guests primarily from the Southeastern US

Essential Functions

  • Regularly shampoo and clean carpets throughout campus
  • Regularly maintain all floors throughout campus, including buffing, stripping, & any other needed maintenance
  • Pressure wash areas as required
  • Perform all other cleaning or maintenance tasks as needed
  • Maintain all equipment & maintain regular inventory of supplies
  • Assist with driving of laundry van as needed
  • Constantly keep hallways, elevators, stairways, meeting rooms, and offices clean
  • Assure appropriate appearance of all public areas and private rooms for guest comfort
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures
  • Required to work special events in day or evening hours
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources
  • Perform other duties as assigned to assure the success of Lake Junaluska in achieving its goals and purposes.
Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Six months to one year prior experience in housekeeping or related area.
  • Knowledge of professional carpet & hard surface cleaning equipment preferred.
  • Hospitality experience strongly desired.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, emails, and memos.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in oral form.
  • Able to prioritize task, organize daily activity and to be able to multi-task projects/tasks. Able to allocate time efficiently.
  • Ability to work by the policies and procedures mandated by LJA.
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
  • Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
  • Must have demonstrated good communication skills, client relation skills, and a commitment to providing responsive and conscientious customer service.
  • Must be flexible and able to adapt to changing needs, multiple task demands, and work structures.
  • Ability to effectively present job related information upon request to customers, clients, and employees of the organization.

Working Conditions

  • Well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor setting with adequate ventilation.Able to work in areas without air-condition & outdoors in all weather on occasion.
  • Physical Demands: Constantly moves about to coordinate work, able to stand (occasionally for prolonged periods of time), walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms (occasionally overhead for equipment), climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk to and hear staff and customer requests, able to work in high precarious places, sometimes in wet or humid conditions, and also lifts or carries or otherwise moves and positions objects weighing up to 75 -100 pounds to coordinate work.
  • Frequently performs heavy physical activity performing strenuous daily activities of a primarily productive/technical nature. Frequently needs manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items, works with the fingers, and perceives attributes of objects and materials.
  • Quiet to loud noise in working area.
