The Organ Recovery Coordinator position involves the fulfillment of both on-call responsibilities and office time related to identification, evaluation, management, and coordination of donor activity and all related documentation.
- Takes 24 hour call to be available for activity associated with organ donation.
- Receives and screens potential organ donor referrals.
- Provides family support to donors and potential donors.
- Obtains authorization or disclosure with first person authorization and conducts a uniform donor risk assessment questionnaire (UDRAI) with appropriate surrogate of the potential organ donor.
- Performs physical assessments and conducts donor management.
- Accountable for accurate and timely allocation of organs.
- Assists in perfusion, preservation, packaging, and distribution of donated organs.
- Responsible for follow-up activities related to the donation process.
- Establishes on-going proactive relationships with various entities related to donation, i.e., other Organ Procurement Organizations (OPO) personnel, transplant personnel, hospital personnel, physicians and surgeons, laboratory personnel to increase awareness and acceptance of organ and tissue donation and transplantation.
- Completes office responsibilities as assigned.
- Maintains current knowledge of the donation and transplantation industry.
Admin and Quality Responsibilities:
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of donor chart review including closure of Potential Transplant Recipient reports (PTR) and other chart related activities.
- Participate in timely resolution of non-conformance investigations and development of appropriate corrective and preventative actions.
- Submit appropriate documentation for all training events attended
- Each month by the prescribed due date, complete and submit a reconciliation of business expenses charged on your corporate VISA card. Follow-up on any issues in a timely manner.
- Every two weeks by the prescribed due date, complete a timesheet that accurately reflects additional pay units earned during the period.
- Observes and participates as clinical resource for the Hospital Development Department which includes giving presentations to various groups.
- Ensures effective communication and collaboration with clinical and hospital development staff, management, and senior leadership.
- Assists with training of new Organ Recovery Coordinators, Clinical Responders, and Clinical Communications Coordinators (i.e. managing referrals or point of contact).
