MIND Research Institute is the creator of ST Math, a breakthrough approach to learning mathematics that is based on neuroscience and the way the brain learns.

The Visual Designer will work collaboratively with content specialists, learning designers, and engineers to produce our interactive content. You will take the mockups provided by learning designers and produce pixel-perfect designs that enhance the interactive and learning experience while remaining true to the original design vision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and produce pixel-perfect ST Math game and classroom activity mockups that exceed internal and industry best practices while remaining true to original vision set by learning designer.

  • Produce pixel-perfect animations to convey key interaction and game animation sequences 

  • Design game assets, including characters with similar animations

  • Create wireframes that support the greatest clarity in basic game play while also satisfying extreme cases

  • Respond timely to development needs with additional mockups, assets, etc. as requested

  • Work collaboratively with learning designers and other visual-interaction designers, brainstorming and testing ideas with live-design jams

  • Consistently aim to push the bar on our effectiveness

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • 5+ years industry experience shipping high quality solutions across a variety of devices (desktop, tablet, IOS, Android, etc.)

  • A portfolio that demonstrates great design craft with ability to remain faithful to projects creative direction regardless of style, technology, platform, etc.

  • Proficiency in your tools of the trade for wireframe, visualization, animation, and prototyping

  • Expert in timeline based animation and excellent knowledge of Adobe Animate

  • A track record of working in diverse environments and on projects in various stages from ideation to production

  • Exceptional design intuition and passion for visual problem solving

  • Excellent team player and communication skills with strong ability to give and receive feedback

  • Eagerness and adaptability to learn and design to the ST Math design standards, with the ability to raise the bar on our designs and learning outcomes

  • Experience working on games a plus

  • Degree in Visual/Interaction/Graphic Design a plus

This role can be based in Irvine, CA or anywhere in the United States, as long as you dont mind turning on your webcam to build a rapport. If remote, you may also have to take a trip to sunny Southern California 1-2x a year (when it is safe to do so). This position will report to the Manager of Visual-Interaction Design.
