Recovery Network of Programs, Inc. (RNP), is a private, non-profit, social service agency which has been serving the Greater Bridgeport Community and Fairfield County area since 1972. RNP is dedicated to helping those living with substance use, mental health disorders, and homelessness. Iranistan House - Transitional Living Center – The Transitional Living Center is an 8-bed group home residential facility for men and women who suffer from severe and persistent psychiatric disabilities. The program provides residential and rehabilitative services to individuals who have significant skill deficits in the areas of self-care and independent living and who require a non-hospital, supervised community-based residence. Staff strives to protect the privacy and personal dignity of each individual while teaching, coaching, educating, training, counseling and assisting with daily living and self-care skills to enable each client to assume increased responsibility necessary for a full and independent life in the community.
Hours: Monday - Friday 12:00 AM to 8:00 AM
CORE FUNCTIONS
- Remain awake and alert at all times to ensure safety and security of clients and building.
- Utilize appropriate methods of effective night monitoring which includes rounds and walk through the building as scheduled to check all bedrooms, bathrooms and common areas (such as laundry room, kitchen, living room and dining area).
- Complete head counts and confirm in accordance with the current census.
- Acknowledge and document any and all behavior(s) on the part of any person served that is considered inappropriate or a cause for concern.
- Attempt to redirect any person served in a respectful and appropriate manner as needed and offer supportive counseling as deemed necessary.
- Utilizes crisis intervention techniques & contingency plans whenever necessary based on person served need and staff assessment.
- Document significant medical, psychological, and social issues in person served charts and communication issues in Communication Log.
- Submit timely incident reports as established by RNP Policies and Procedures.
- Participate in personal and professional training and development activities to remain current with standards set forth by Department of Public Health and Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services for psychiatric rehabilitation facilities.
- Assumes all other appropriate duties as deemed necessary by the supervisor.
CORE COMPETENCIES
- Minimum of an Associate’s degree in behavioral health and at least two (2) years experience in related field preferred with clients with co-occurring disorders; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of principles and techniques of basic counseling skills, crisis intervention and documentation.
- Understanding of the physical, psychological, social and economic effects of substance abuse, homelessness, medical and mental health disorders.
- Considerable knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations regarding client confidentiality.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative professional relationships with clients, colleagues and supervisors.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to project a professional image.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES
- Incumbents may be required to secure professional certification and/or license.
- Valid Connecticut driver's license may be required
