The Summer research intern will be assisting research staff in exploring the possible connection between disinformation and violent extremism/gun violence in the United States as it impacts human rights.

The selected candidate must be located in a state where AIUSA offices are also located; New York, Boston, Washington, D.C., Atlanta, Chicago, California



  • Prior experience with a Human Rights Clinic, preferably one with which Amnesty has previously partnered
  • Experience researching the intersection of extremism, gun violence and human rights
  • Experience working in  a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with sensitive information and confidential materials
  • Experience analyzing online disinformation that leads to misinformed and violent action.
  • Experience tracking and collecting data re: human rights violations and domestic U.S. protests, marches and rallies



  • Knowledge of research methodology models
  • Knowledge of digital data verification tools and systems
  • Knowledge of international human rights mechanisms and treaties
  • Knowledge of public policy as it relates to the right to protest, police violence and gun violence
  • Knowledge of tracking and mapping human rights violations in the U.S.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote setting with minimal supervision
