Job Description

Basic Function: Designs, creates, or edits graphics to meet specific commercial or promotional needs, such as packaging, displays, logos, and print promotional materials including magazines, brochures, booklets, training manuals, and supplemental material.



  • Creates designs, concepts, and sample layouts based on knowledge of layout principles and aesthetic design concepts
  • Determines size and arrangement of illustrative material and copy and select style and size of type
  • Uses computer software to generate new images
  • Marks up, pastes, and assembles final layouts to prepare layouts for printer
  • Draws and prints charts, graphs, illustrations, and other artwork, using a computer
  • Reviews final layouts and suggests improvements as needed
  • Confers with client to discuss and determine layout design
  • Develops graphics and layouts for product illustrations, company logos, and websites
  • Keys information into computer equipment to create layouts for client or supervisor
  • Prepares illustrations or rough sketches of material, discussing them with clients and/or supervisors and making necessary changes
  • Studies illustrations and photographs to plan presentation of materials, products, or services
  • Prepares notes and instructions for workers who assemble and prepare final layouts for printing
  • Performs office cleaning tasks according to cleaning schedule
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • Advanced working knowledge of Adobe CS Suite including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Flash
  • Knowledge of relevant computer graphics and design software, including applications and programming
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services; including customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services, including marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration, sales techniques, and sales control systems
  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm

FLSA: This position is in the Arden, NC headquarters and is full-time, exempt, salary, Monday – Friday with flexible office hours.
