Located in the Smoky Mountains of Western North Carolina, Lake Junaluska is a conference and retreat center that hosts over 50,000 overnight guests annually. We have over 400 lodging rooms, a campground, and meeting space for up to 2,000 people. All of our facilities are located on a scenic 1,200 acre campus which boasts panoramic views, abundant recreation opportunities, and a 200 acre lake. Our market ranges from youth groups to affluent leisure guests primarily from the Southeastern US.

 

Essential Functions

  • Must possess excellent hospitality skills and a strong desire to foster an attitude of Christian hospitality to “exceed guest expectations”.
  • Maintain an accurate knowledge of the weekly set-up needs and plan accordingly.
  • Responsible for the event configuration setup as detailed on the Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), to include;
    • Tables
    • Chairs
    • Water/cups
    • Notepads, pens
    • Audio/video equipment [as requested by Media Manager]
    • Other equipment as requested
  • Must possess an acute attention to detail and be able to work in a fast pace environment.
  • Responsible for meeting last minute service/equipment requests while maintaining a positive attitude to assure the best possible guest experience/Christian Hospitality.
  • Maintain an accurate up to date working building inventory list of equipment and report missing or out of service equipment to the supervisor.
  • At time, will be responsible for providing guests with off grounds transportation.
  • Responsible for moving Services tables, chairs and other equipment from building to building.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Associate’s degree with a minimum of six months to one year related experience and or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Must have the following:
    • Excellent written and oral communications skills with people from a wide variety of education and socioeconomic backgrounds.
    • Excellent attention to detail
    • Valid NC Driver’s License with clean driving record. Prefer CDL Class B with passenger endorsement.
  • Hospitality experience strongly desired.
  • Knowledge of a wide variety of sounds systems, computers and live video operations helpful.
  • Must be flexible and able to adapt to changing needs, multiple task demands, and working environments.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, emails, and memos.
  • Ability to effectively present job related information upon request to customers, guest and employees of the organization.
  • Must possess excellent computer, time management, and communication skills. 
  • Ability to solve practical problems and handle a variety of customer, guests and employee questions or concerns, and recognize when to consultant or escalate to the department manager.
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule.

Working Conditions

  • Moderate physical activity performing strenuous to non-strenuous activities with moderate to loud noise.
  • Well-lighted, heated and air-conditioned indoor/outdoor setting with adequate ventilation.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull or otherwise reposition objects weighing up to 100 pounds. At times, objects may exceed weight limit.
  • Works with the fingers and perceives attributes of objects and materials.
  • Climb, balance, stoop, kneel; frequently moves about, able to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
  • Frequently be outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Vision: must be able to see close, have good vision to perform daily duties.
  • Work Schedule: Monday – Sunday, days/nights/weekends/holidays and overtime as required.
