Description

The Dental Patient Service Representative (PSR) is a service-oriented position that demands cheerful, friendly, and polite demeanor at all times. This position serves as an ambassador for CHCL and will perform advanced intake and screening procedures using computerized systems for the organization’s Dental Department. The Dental PSR will also evaluate client income, learn income guidelines and apply them in a conscientious and fiscally prudent manner. This position requires meticulous attention to detail, record keeping, and tracking of client information through our electronic health record system.

Qualifications

Education: High School graduate or GED.
Licensure: N/A
Experience: General office experience or completion of business college courses, with good tenure.
Expertise: Working knowledge of computers and their functions and other general office equipment.
Excellent spelling and grammar skills
Communicates effectively with others and demonstrates vital behaviors consistently
Highly organized and able to function with minimal supervision
Ability to perform multiple tasks
Language: Bilingual English/Spanish required.
Travel: N/A

 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
Receive phone calls; records and distributes messages or routes calls appropriately.
Schedule patient appointments in person and on phone.
Generate Rights and Responsibilities form, Consent to Treat forms and assesses the patient's financial status.
Refer to financial screening if needed.
Prevent duplicate records.
Verify proof of income when scheduled.
Gather and verify information required to bill various payment sources, including Medicaid, Medicare, private insurance
Update Consent to Treat and Rights & Responsibility forms annually.
Request shot records and makes copies for the medical record.
Provide departmental orientation, training and mentoring for new staff.
Check patients out, receive payments and issues receipts. Record charges for physician visits, lab, and X-ray
costs, and give vouchers for medication when needed; notify patients of outstanding accounts for payment at check-in.
Schedule subsequent appointments and reinforces the importance of keeping their appointments.
Prepare daily reconciliation batch report; keep count of daily collections and ensure that the money balances with the daily batch.
Comply with HIPAA rules and regulations regarding the protection of the patient privacy.
Ensure every patient has a current household assessment.
