Position Overview

Equal Justice Works is looking for a highly engaged, proactive self-starter and team player who has passion for engaging our law school constituents and supporting the work of law students in public interest law. The purpose of this position is to support the efforts of the Law School Engagement and Advocacy Unit (LSEA), providing programmatic and communications support, and helping to improve systems and processes through an innate attention to detail, and responding efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment.

This role serves as a core member of the LSEA unit at Equal Justice Works and will be tasked with assisting many of the team’s ongoing event planning and student engagement efforts, especially focused on assisting with our annual Conference and Career Fair. This person will support the unit’s work to instill public service values on the campuses of approximately 200 Equal Justice Works member law schools by encouraging the development of programs and practices that support the pursuit of public interest legal careers. This is a full-time position that reports to the LSEA director and consistently collaborates with all team members.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with the administration of the Equal Justice Works Conference and Career Fair by providing attendees with registration and technical assistance to facilitate interviews and table talk and assists with other aspects of the event
  • Supports the law school membership process, including maintaining the customer relations management (CRM) database, disseminating information, tracking membership renewals, and ensuring member inquiries are addressed in a timely manner
  • Assists in building Equal Justice Works’ relationships with law students and law school members by communicating through emails, newsletters, and webinars
  • Assists with the coordination of LSEA programming throughout the year such as the Rural Summer Legal Corps, including recruitment and application review assistance, database monitoring, and other support as needed
  • Provides administrative support to LSEA staff, including word processing, data entry, maintaining files, program participant travel coordination, scheduling meetings and coordinating other communications
  • Actively participates in the organization’s Diversity Equity and Inclusion initiatives  
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or comparable work experience
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with others
  • Previous experience in customer service or membership benefits role a plus
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities with a range of complexity
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player
  • Good problem-solving skills and judgment
  • Experience producing newsletters, Power Point presentations, webinars and other communication materials preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, online communications tools, including Microsoft CRM and Click Dimensions (or other mass email client) preferred
