Essential Functions and Duties
Gift Shop

  • Serve as an ambassador of the Great Lakes Brewing Company brand in guest interactions
  • ID all guests that look to be under the age of 30
  • Enthusiastically greet guests, answer questions and offer suggestions regarding beer and merchandise. Accurately describes beer styles and specifics about Great Lakes Brewing Company Beer to customers when recommending beer purchases
  • Counts and balances cash drawer; and adheres to proper cash handling procedures
  • Straightens and folds merchandise throughout the shift
  • Restocks shelves from in house supplies
  • Maintains Gift Shop cleaning standards: Dusts all shelves; cleans all glasses; cleans windows, shelves and counters; empties waste basket and vacuums throughout shift; mops floors
  • Continually checks for faulty merchandise, removes from shelves, tags reason for it removal, records in inventory log, and reports to Manager
  • Audits and updates all price tags
  • Checks beer expiration dates and ensures proper rotation
  • Answers telephone and forwards calls where appropriate
  • Completes data entry as needed
  • Other duties and projects as assigned

Lead Gift Shop

  • Assists with Tours and Hop College classes
  • Complete beer orders 2-3 times weekly for the Gift Shop.
  • Ensures Gift Shop display standards and opening and closing duties are being completed, checks opener/closer checklists, and addresses any issues with Gift Shop and Tours Manager and team.
  • Completes and logs weekly visual standards audits in accordance with the visual standards guide.
  • Places supply orders as needed for Gift Shop.
  • Complete and log monthly Gift Shop inventory with Gift Shop and Tours Manager
  • Receives and oversees processing of shipment, and reports any issues.
  • Assists Gift Shop and Tours Manager with markdowns and keeping pricing signage updated
  • Assist Gift Shop and Tours Manager with Gift Shop merchandising and displays
  • Participates in Weekly Gift Shop and Tour Operations Meetings.
  • Acts as Leader on Duty for both Gift Shop and Tour Shifts. Tracks daily sales and communicates goals with team and adjusts staffing as necessary.
  • Counts and balances cash drawers.
  • Responsible for opening/closing the store or symposium.
  • Responds to GLBCinfo and Online Store inquiries and logs any Quality Assurance related inquiries in the QA Database.
  • Assists with other duties as necessary.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2 years of prior retail experience is required
  • Passion for craft beer
  • Solid verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to stay organized under pressure and make spontaneous decisions
  • Must be detail oriented with a proven ability to manage multiple tasks and troubleshoot when necessary
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to lift up to 60 pounds
  • Ability to work on your feet for an extended period of time (up to 4+ hours)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Cicerone Level 1 Beer Server Certification within 90 days of hire

Education

  • Knowledge of craft beer, craft beer industry, and retail trends.
