JOB SUMMARY

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Teach Upper School Spanish (Grades 9-12)
  • Teach reading comprehension skills and building verbal vocabulary and Spanish verbal skills.
  • Implement appropriate, authentic assessments in support of individual student learning styles
  • Effective, proactive and timely communication with varied school constituencies, including administration, students, and parents on students progress
  • Communicate respectfully and thoughtfully with parent/ guardians remaining sensitive to different families’ cultures, values and needs.
  • Make Spanish meaningful and relevant by inspiring students
  • Plan curriculum in conjunction with other members of the Foreign Language Department
  • Perform additional duties, as needed and assigned
  • Consistently communicate high expectations and boundaries in a kind, clear and respectful manner.
  • Maintain a climate of trust and mutual respect, which encourages students to risk asking questions, expressing their opinions, and making mistakes necessary to the learning process.
  • Show a commitment to supporting the holistic development of the student, both inside and outside of the class.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

  • B.A. degree required/ M.A. degree preferred in Spanish, Education, or related field
  • Minimum five years teaching experience is required.
  • Passion for personal and professional growth as an Upper School teacher
