Job Summary: The Advanced Practice Provider (APP)- Clinic Based, will be a Nurse Practitioner (N.P.) or Physicians Assistant (P.A.-C) that will assist the supervising physician to plan, direct, and evaluate patients; examine and treat chronic and acute episodic illnesses, and other illnesses; performs selected laboratory testing; offer referrals to physicians, write prescriptions, and perform office procedures within the scope of expertise, protocols, and available equipment.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates care for individual patients.
  • Initiates and documents appropriate interventions; evaluates and records patient/family response within practice protocol; prescribes drug therapies per protocol/physician consultation.
  • Assists physicians and performs procedures as needed; conducts patient assessments and provides physician with information prior to seeing the patient.
  • Assesses patient/family needs and provides education.
  • Promotes wellness and recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs.
  • Promotes/provides staff education.
  • Provides case management for neurology patients and their families.
  • Serves as a resource person for clinical staff by providing information being studied in clinical trials.
  • Experience and knowledge in the management of the physiologic and psychological effects of neurologic diagnosis and subsequent treatments.
  • May mentor new Advanced Practice Providers.

 

  • Provides any other duties and responsibilities as determined by management and physician leadership.
  • Abides by all HIPAA and confidentiality regulations and policies.

Education and Experience:

  • Successful completion of an approved nurse practitioner or physician assistant program.
  • Must be currently licensed as a registered nurse in the state, or PA certification.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to lift 100 pounds to assist patients.
  • Able to lift 10 pounds for routine performance of essential functions.
  • May be exposed to adverse indoor environmental conditions, bloodborne pathogens, physical hazards (e.g., needle pricks, etc.) and chemical hazards.
