For 88 years, Seattle's Union Gospel Mission take our calling to love our homeless neighbors very seriously. Our efforts help move people to healthy, thriving lives. We start by learning their names, their stories, and providing first for urgent physical needs, building relationships, and then offering long-term recovery programs. Currently, we have 11,199 homeless neighbors living in the greater Seattle vicinity. More than 1/3 of those who are homeless are struggling with mental illness. 32% of King County's homeless wrestle with addiction. You can be a part of the solution and join the team.

We are looking for a high energy and high capacity Admin to work closely with VPs of Program.

This position is responsible for supporting the office of two VPs of Program which includes administrative support duties, file/report management, and project work on various projects.



Essential Job Duties

1. General administrative duties, which includes typing, filing, transcribing, proofreading, maintaining databases, ordering supplies and drafting correspondence.

2. Assist with completion of monthly reports, occasionally collection and analysis of data.

3. Help drive key program strategies, following up on key deliverable due dates.

4. Mentor a program graduate intern.

5. Review and summarize reports and documents; prepare documents and outgoing mail as required.

6. Prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously, and follow through on issues in a timely manner.

7. Assist in coordinating special events and meeting set-up.

8. Take notes at weekly staff meetings.

9. Participate in organizing events and tours.

10. Assist staff, donors and visitors with questions about program.

11. Manage staff appreciation activities.

12. Handle errands, when needed.

13. Assist in managing the office of the two VPs of Program which includes handling phone calls, taking messages, scheduling, expenses, mail.

14. Collaborate with other Executive Assistants throughout the Mission as needed.

15. Work with coworkers to forge and model transparent and supportive Christian relationships which will serve as a leadership example for program.

16. Attend and participate in all Mission, Division and Department meetings and training, as required.

17. Any other job-related duties as assigned by the two VPs of Program.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


1. The successful candidate will have an active church/prayer life and demonstrate a strong desire to serve the Mission by ministering to those whom it serves.

2. Must agree with Seattle's Union Gospel Mission Statement of Faith, Mission and Vision Statements and have a personal ethos and work ethic that reflects the Missions Core Values.

3. Sensitivity to cultural diversity is required.

5. Ability to successfully pass pre-employment drug and criminal background screenings.

6. Possess a valid Washington State Drivers License and be able to meet the standards of the Mission driver criteria required, including but not limited to:

a. Clean driving record

b. No current suspensions or revocations

c. At least 21 years of age

7. Ability to share the gospel relationally and respectfully.

8. High proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook required.

9. High attention to accuracy and detail required.

10. Excellent grammar and proofreading skills required.

11. Excellent written and verbal communication required.

12. Excellent organizational, customer service and interpersonal skills required.

13. Project management skills

14. Proficient keyboard skills (50 WPM) required.

15. High proficiency in arithmetic required, including a working knowledge of statistics.

16. High level of professionalism and the ability to maintain confidentiality required.

17. Ability to work independently with little or no supervision required.

18. Ability to multi-task required.



Physical Requirements

1. Ability to stand, walk or sit for extended periods of time; bend, stoop or reach.

2. Regularly lift and/or carry up to 20 pounds.

3. Talk on telephone and use computer extensively.

4. Ability to wear a mask during the entirety of the shift




Minimum of AA/AS or equivalent years of experience required.




Two years of experience working as an executive or administrative assistant.
