Position Summary

The Director - AMA is responsible for performing Asset Management activities that support Asset Management Accounting and Donahue Schriber’s objectives, performance drivers and strategic initiatives. The Director – AMA is responsible for supervising the accounting manager/staff and manages the day-to-day financial reporting function, cash management, and often the budgetary process. The "producer" of the various management and financial reports.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Establishes and monitors policies, procedures, and goals for the Asset Management Accounting Department.
  2. Works with Property Managers and Vice Presidents-Asset Management to establish accounting-related operational controls at centers.
  3. Recognizes and understands technical accounting and potential REIT tax-related issues and researches and resolves these issues as they occur throughout the year.
  4. Conducts research on accounting literature to ensure policies and procedures are appropriate for accurate financial reporting.
  5. Ensures distribution of monthly financial statements to management on a timely basis.
  6. Reviews annual budgets for operating centers and ensures distribution to management on a timely basis.
  7. Monitors cash management for all operating centers with stand-alone bank accounts.
  8. Oversees review of annual year-end reconciliations of operating centers and ensures reconciliation is in accordance with lease agreements.
  9. Liaison between Asset Management Accounting and outside Property Tax Consultants overseeing all property tax issues including enrollment of new construction and acquisition and appeals.
  10. Works with Development and Construction Departments to coordinate smooth transition of projects from Construction to Asset Management Accounting Department.
  11. Oversees, coordinates, and resolves tenant audits.
  12. Assists in coordinating the sale or acquisition of operating properties.
  13. Works with other inter-department management on special projects, as requested.
  14. Other duties and special projects as may be assigned.
  15. Oversees hiring of Asset Management Accounting personnel.
Qualifications

Education

This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree level of education from an accredited university with emphasis in Accounting or other related discipline

Additional degree(s) that are preferred for this position include:
