Summary

The PJ Library Manager and Family Educator plans and implements programming and engagement activities to support PJ Library, an award-winning Jewish family and community engagement program; and Shalom Baby, an engagement program for families of newborns and babies, up to age two. This position is responsible for leading family outreach and engagement efforts including establishing and maintaining relationships with families, communicating to a diverse constituency, and planning and implementing programs for families raising children with a Jewish connection.

 

All employees of JSV are responsible to create relationships with the members to add value to their membership and enhance their sense of belonging with the APJCC community.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Serve as Primary Program Professional for PJ Library and liaise with the Harold Grinspoon Foundation
  • Build programming and community for both PJ Library (ages 0-8) and PJ Our Way constituencies (ages 9-11)
  • Offer an accessible, non-judgmental presence for those seeking meaningful connections to the Jewish community
  • Help families with babies and young children explore Jewish life and find their place in our local Jewish community
  • Plan, collaborate, coordinate and evaluate programming focused on Jewish values, holidays, rituals and lifecycle events to increase the number of families that participate in events and increase the frequency of their participation.
  • Engage current families and increase the number of new families participating in Shalom Baby, PJ Library programming, APJCC and community opportunities.
  • Manage social media presence, marketing and communications for PJ Library and Shalom Baby.
  • Build, maintain and grow our Small Groups and Workshops, including but not limited to: J-Fam Baby Group (past projects include family nature class, family music class, Moms group, etc)
  • Recruit, supervise, mentor, and support lay leadership in the form of Parent Connectors (grant-dependent) and Family Engagement committee
  • Collaborate with other departments on family programming and event and programs for adults
  • Collaborate with other organizations to bring PJ Library and Family Engagement to the local, broader Jewish community; participate in Family Engagement Community of Practice
  • Envision, plan and maintain Family Space on Levy Family Campus

 

 

Additional Functions:

 

- Interact positively with all participants and board members at all times.

- Provide information to prospective and current participants regarding family programs within JSV and in other Jewish community organizations.

- Be familiar and follow through with PJ Library and Grinspoon Foundation participation policies.

- Maintain accurate records; prepare and submit reports as requested by supervisor and in a timely manner.

- Provide friendly, courteous and helpful service to members and participants.

- Develop a positive work relationship with direct staff and other JSV employees.

- Attend and participate in JSV team meetings, including but not limited to: All-Staff, Program Team, Managers, Facilities, Jewish Life, and Family Engagement team meetings

- Attend and participate in Grinspoon PJ Library professional development and team meetings

Qualifications

· Available to work nontraditional business hours may require evening and weekend work.

· A minimum of an undergraduate degree in Jewish Education or equivalent work experience.

· Knowledge in Jewish programming.

· Demonstrate good character, integrity, professionalism, and trust with confidential information.

· Must have enthusiasm, be adaptable, dependable, and possess an excellent work ethic.

· Must be articulate and possess excellent customer service skills, as well as communication skills both orally and verbally.

· Must have proficient computer skills

· Submit to and pass background check via JSV specific Livescan location.

 

 

This position is contingent upon completion and clearance of a background fingerprint assessment.
