GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION

Notre Dame de Namur University (NDNU) in Belmont, CA, is seeking an adjunct to teach in the School of Business and Management (SBM) undergraduate or graduate programs. Candidate qualifications and experiences should be aligned with the scholar-practitioner model. Adjunct faculty are expected to attend monthly 1 ½ hour-long SBM faculty meetings during their engagement with NDNU.

This position involves teaching one or more SBM courses that may be scheduled on a weekday morning, afternoon, evening, or weekend day. Courses are offered during the year, including summer. Depending on the program and the modality, an adjunct may be required to teach a course entirely in-person, fully online, or as a hybrid in-person/online course. The chosen modality will be specified in the course contract. Each course an adjunct teaches is a 3-unit, 8-week contract position, with all units counted towards teaching.

Adjuncts may also be contracted separately to provide SBM administrative and program service, growth, and development roles, including committee work, program development, professional program development, professional networking, recruitment, promotion, and student mentoring. These functions are not part of the normal 3-unit course workload expectation.

 

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, AND EDUCATION

 

Experience and Education:

  • MBA or Ph.D. in a relevant business area from a regionally accredited university in an area of business or other related discipline.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Ability

 

  • Demonstrated experience teaching one or more business courses at the undergraduate or graduate level.
  • Experience in teaching one or more graduate business courses is desirable for those teaching an NDNU graduate business course. (Demonstrated by providing teaching evaluations for one or more business courses taught at an accredited college or university.)
  • Demonstrated expertise in the area in which you are contracted to teach. (Demonstrated by a current resume plus one or more letters of recommendation from professional contact(s).

Other qualifications (highly desirable):

  • Demonstrated experience working with diverse student populations.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching traditional and non-traditional age students.
  • Experience with academic committees, developing professional programs, and continuing education program knowledge.
  • Engagement in the operation of a graduate business program, including promoting, recruiting, and mentoring students and identifying, hiring, and mentoring adjunct instructors.

 

Salary Range: $1900 per unit

Please note that NDNU will not be paying for any relocation expenses. In addition, candidates offered a position must be eligible to work in the USA without sponsorship or verification (e.g., work or student visa) at the time of hire.
