Summary of Position

The Campus Worship Leader strives to worship God and disciple worshipers by embodying and executing the Summit mission and values. Participates in creating a culture of disciple-making disciples at the local campus. Leads congregation and volunteer teams in gathered worship. Contributes to ministry of the central Summit Worship Team. The Campus Worship Leader directly reports to the Campus Pastor and also receives coaching and leadership from a Central Worship Pastor. 

Qualifications and Requirements

• A commitment to servant leadership and dependence on God (Mk. 10:45; Col. 3:23-24, Jn. 15:5-8).

• A thoughtful and intentional disciple maker (Matt. 28:16-20).

• Understands the value of trust, grace and truth within a team context. 

• A proven proficiency in basic music theory and practice, vocally and instrumentally.

• A commitment to the biblical priority of congregational singing (Eph. 5:18-19; Col. 3:16).

• The theological competency to choose music for congregational settings that are distinctly and clearly Christian in its lyrics and reflect biblical language and themes.

• Is a self starter (but at the same time operates easily in a team context).

• Leads by being organized and prepared while remaining flexible.

• A member or willing and able to become a member of The Summit Church.

• Administrative proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Chapel Hill Campus 

  • Actively engages in discipleship and care of both members and attendees.

  • Participates in weekly meetings and contributes to building a healthy team culture.

  • Leads worship at weekly gatherings at least 42 weekends/year.

    • Plans and leads God-exalting, Christ-centered and Bible-saturated worship services.

    • Arranges music for scheduled weekend gatherings.

    • Coordinates details with production staff.

    • Leads part-time production manager. 

  • Builds, develops, and manages the campus worship ministry.

    • Recruits and auditions prospective team members.

    • Provides on-going training for musicians and vocalists.

• Central Worship Team

  • Contributes to required meetings, events (internal/external) and Summit Worship projects.

  • Leads at least 3 internal events per year.

• Executes any and all other tasks necessary to accomplish the vision and mission of the Summit.
