Nonprofit Management Services of Colorado (NMSC), an affiliate of Developmental Pathways and Continuum of Colorado, is seeking a Director of People Strategies who will oversee daily operations of the People Strategies department including Total Rewards, Payroll, Talent Acquisition, Training, Organizational Development, Onboarding, Performance Management, Risk Management, Employment Law Compliance, and ongoing Employee Relations. Our ideal candidate will have extensive experience in analyzing compensation. This role will act as a strategic partner with the Executive Team to make recommendations related to legal issues, organizational policies and procedures, and personnel matters.

Our office is in the Denver Metro, CO area - just south of the Denver Tech Center in Englewood, CO. We’re committed to a great work-life balance here so our offices are closed on Fridays! You’ll get to work Monday – Thursday, typically working 9 hrs/day as our full-time positions here are 36 hrs/week.
 

More about what you’ll get to do as our Director of People Strategies

  • Oversight of the organization’s compensation and performance management systems
  • Work closely with the VP, Shared Services in the review, preparation, and administration of the agency’s compensation program; ensure the compensation program is equitable and competitive
  • Conduct bi-annual compensation review across entire organization, partner with directors on job description updates, wage grade analysis, cost analysis, job description reviews in conjunction with market research
  • Assist in implementing integrated succession planning practices according to the customer’s needs and requests
  • Partner with training managers on the development, implementation and maintenance of quality employee development and training programs that increase employee and organizational performance
  • Create and implement departmental goals and objectives and ensure they align with the organization's strategic goals and objectives; seek input from team members, make sure team members are aware of established goals and objectives
  • Partner with Benefits Manager for the oversight of the organization's employee benefits program
  • Responsible for oversight of payroll department, remain current in payroll regulations ensuring company compliance with updated local, state, and federal laws and requirements
  • Participate in the annual enrollment process inclusive of negotiations, plan reviews, cost analysis, needs analysis, communications to employees and data review
  • Oversight of talent acquisition function; remain in close contact with leaders regarding ongoing recruiting needs
  • Partner with PM of Learning Technologies in the strategic use of the Learning Management System (LMS) and professional development tools (e.g., DiSC, PXT, 360, PDPs)
  • Oversee workplace investigations; assist with outcomes and make recommendations
  • Oversee annual review/updates to the Employee Guidebooks, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with state, federal and local laws, rules and regulations
  • Respond to EEOC, CCRD and DOL requests in order to mitigate risk to the organization; inform Risk Management Committee (RMC) and consult with outside Counsel as needed
  • Play active role in organizations Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiative
  • Oversee and assist agency-wide managers, supervisors, and employees with personnel and/or employee relations issues; provide consultation, counseling, and coaching
  • Review, recommend and assist with employee coaching, performance evaluations and corrective actions
  • Develop and manage the People Strategies department’s budget; solicit input from People Strategies team and ensure department budget stays within allocated budgetary goals; problem solve variances with finance, executive team, and direct reports

Starting Salary and Benefits

Qualifications

Must haves to be our Director of People Strategies

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field required, Master’s Degree preferred
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in HR with increased responsibility
    • Minimum of ten years of experience may be considered in place of education
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of management and supervisory experience
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience as Human Resources Generalist or like role
  • PHR or SPHR certification preferred
  • Demonstrated experience with and a thorough working knowledge of HR policies and procedures, as well as federal, state, and municipal employment laws
  • Be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner; gather and analyze information skillfully; develop alternative solutions; work well in group problem solving situations; use reason even when dealing with emotional topics
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively adapt to and manage ongoing change, including developing workable implementation plans; communicating changes effectively; building commitment and overcoming resistance; and providing support as needed
  • Ability to strategically develop, adapt and maintain systems to streamline processes; strong knowledge of human capital management (HCM) systems
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of the legal requirements mandated by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the Department of Labor (DOL), the Colorado Civil Rights Division (CCRD), and the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) and any other applicable state and federal agencies
  • Know Microsoft Office suite at an expert level
