Assistant to Autism Center Coordinator

The ARC of Litchfield County (LARC), one of Northwest Connecticut’s leading providers of supports to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, has an exciting opportunity for a part-time Assistant in our new Autism Resource Center. The Autism Resource Center is seeking a professional, creative, driven, and energetic individual to directly assist the Autism Resource Center Coordinator. Be a part of creating an innovative and educational environment to support families and their children on the Autism spectrum! Spend your days helping to create and implement ideas and activities for the Autism Resource Center’s preschool play group and after school teen homework club. The job involves planning, preparing and delivering play-based activities for children. Playgroup leaders are ambassadors to LARC programs and will provide parents with access to resources and services. The role will support LARC's mission, vision and values and will adhere to compliance protocols as well as LARC's policies and procedures.
This is a hands-on position; you will be interacting with and assisting preschoolers, pre-teens, teens, and their families. This is a flexible 20 hour part-time position, the hours will revolve around our programs, and will mostly be from 12pm - 4pm daily, however these hours may change accordingly to fit with the programs. The starting rate of pay is $17.25/hr. Apply today!

Qualifications and Skills

  • One (1) year of experience utilizing principles of Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) preferred
  • Strong communication skills to confidently explain information and converse with families
  • Organizational skills to confidently process, implement and teach programs
  • Self confidence to take the initiative to approach families
  • Achievement motivated to work with families to set and achieve realistic goals
  • Bilingual preferred
