Description

Position Summary

Work with a team of staff to help create a safe, healing welcome center environment for woman and children in a Christian residential program. This position is a part of a 24-hour team to provide information, referral and support services to WCM guests. Responsible for providing leadership for the guests, overseeing volunteers and activities, maintaining facility safety and cleanliness.

 

Essential Job Duties

  1. Help maintain a positive, pleasant and Christian atmosphere at the WCM while participating in its grace-based ministry.     
  2. Uphold the guidelines of WCM, confronting guests and leading them to self-discoveries when necessary.
  3. Daily communicate with other staff via email.
  4. Interact with guests entering quarantine on a daily basis, responding to their needs in accordance with quarantine best practices and the Mission’s grace-based philosophy.
  5. Coordinate all aspects of the intake process including inquiry calls, outreach, partnerships with outside agencies, phone screens and intakes.
  6. Administer observed urine collections for drug screening of guests.
    1. Due to the sensitive nature of these essential job duties we are only able to consider females for this position.
  7. Determine applicant eligibility for the program as mandated by Federal and City regulations.
  8. Assess applicant ability to live independently and evaluate special needs in areas such as health care, mental health, and addiction.
  9. Responsible for admission decisions in coordination with Guest Support Administrator
  10. Identify inefficient/ineffective processes and implement improvements.
  11. Maintain Bed List with daily updates.
  12. Complete data entry and documents as assigned by your Supervisor.
  13. Perform janitorial and maintenance duties as needed.
  14. Monitor incoming persons, assisting and directing visitors and guests.
  15. Handle office telephones, recording and organizing messages.
  16. Must be certified as a Mission Certified driver, will have multiple duties involving driving mission vehicles.
  17. Assist with administrative tasks.
  18. Attend and participate in all Mission, Division and Department meetings and trainings, as required.
  19. Any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor and WCM Leadership.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  1. The successful candidate will have an active church/prayer life and demonstrate a strong desire to serve the Mission by ministering to those whom it serves.
  2. Must agree with Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission Statement of Faith, Mission and Vision Statements and have a personal ethos and work ethic that reflects the Mission’s Core Values.
  3. Sensitivity to cultural diversity is required.
  4. Experience, education and training in the field of alcohol and substance abuse.
  5. Experience in client record management in a clinical or medical setting is required.
  6. Intermediate/advanced computer skills with the ability to maintain client records, produce community resource information flyers, and contribute to the database used by the agency.

  13. Ability to be proactive in recognizing problems and present appropriate solutions.
  14. Ability to have difficult conversations regarding guidelines and rules.
  15. Ability to de-escalate guests.
Qualifications

Physical Requirements

  1. Ability to stand, walk or sit for extended periods of time; bend, stoop or reach.
  2. Regularly lift and/or carry up to 40 pounds.
  3. Talk on telephone and use computer extensively.

 

Education

High school diploma required.  Microsoft Office Skills required. AA in Human Services preferred.

 

Experience

1+ year of prior experience in related field required.  Work experience in rescue mission context highly preferred.
