Human Resources Manager for Austin Recovery Network

Who We Are:

Austin Recovery Network is a nonprofit addiction treatment and support system of care. Services include adolescent peer-to-peer support, a recovery-focused high school and adult outpatient support services. The disease of addiction has a relapse prevention and maintenance program akin to those designed for diabetes, hyper-tension, and heart disease, but it has historically been treated like a one-time illness. We want to change that. Austin Recovery, University High School and Keystone Alternative Peer Group are re-imagining what a continuum of care needs to look like to be fully person-centered and affordable - for the duration of each person's life.

Role:

The Human Resources Manager will oversee all HR duties for our 45 full time and part time employees and contractors. This role administers biweekly payroll and benefits while working closely with our broker; manages the full employee life cycle; handles employee relations issues, streamlines HR processes, and ensures compliance in HR-related areas. Ideally, we are looking for someone with 5 years of experience in a progressive HR role, who reflects the warm-hearted culture of our organization.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Enhances the organizations human resources by planning, implementing, and evaluating employee relations and human resources policies, programs, and practices.
  • Designs and conducts on-boarding process for employees including benefits administration, background checks, grant compliance, I-9 forms, drug screens, conducting orientation and training programs.
  • Maintains the work structure by updating job requirements and job descriptions for all positions.
  • Manages and completes biweekly payroll.
  • Handles employee relations including hearing and resolving employee grievances and counseling employees and supervisors.
  • Implements employee benefits programs and informs employees of benefits by studying and assessing benefit needs and trends; obtaining and evaluating benefit contract bids from the broker; recommending benefit programs to management; directing the processing of benefit claims; and designing and conducting educational programs on benefit programs.
  • Ensures legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal and state requirements, conducting investigations, maintaining records.
  • Enforces management guidelines by preparing, updating, and recommending human resource policies and procedures.
  • Retains historical human resource records by designing a filing and retrieval system and keeping past and current records.
  • Cultivates professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree from a four-year college or university or similar work experience required
  • 5+ years of experience in progressively responsible human resource roles
  • PHR/SPHR certification preferred
