The Director of Talent Acquisition is a newly created role at AIUSA and will serve as a strategic leader on the People, Capability, and Culture team. This position will have the opportunity to build a recruitment program from the ground up, to include candidate sourcing strategies for diverse applicant pools and creating internal screening, selection, and hiring practices to ensure diversity, equity, and inclusion in the relevant processes and systems; and establishing AIUSA as an employer of choice.


Essential Responsibilities

  1. Create and maintain a full cycle recruitment program, from candidate sourcing strategies to establishing consistent screening, selection, and hiring practices that lift up AIUSA’s IDEA (inclusion, diversity, equity, accessibility) principles to new employee onboarding.
  2. Serve as AIUSA’s primary recruiter.
  3. Develop and implement hiring best practices training materials for hiring managers.
  4. Manage the Applicant Tracking System.
  5. Responsible for all recruitment and hiring-related compliance.
  6. Establish recruitment and hiring-based baseline metrics to support AIUSA’s IDEA goals.
  7. Revitalize AIUSA’s internship and fellowship programs, ensuring that the program is a learning focus opportunity for members of underrepresented identities.
  8. In partnership with the Director of Payroll, Benefits, and Wellness, co-manage the Talent and Culture Specialist.
  9. Other related duties and projects as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  1. Demonstrated ability to create, implement, maintain, and improve recruitment and hiring strategies and practices that center diversity, equity, and inclusion best practices in a fast-paced organization
  2. Ability to manage applicant tracking systems, and establish and track talent-based metrics
  3. Thorough knowledge of federal and local recruitment and hiring-related laws and statutes
  4. Ability to build trusting and collaborative relationships throughout the organization
  5. Ability to exert influence with staff at all levels of the organization
  6. Demonstrated project management skills and ability to successfully manage multiple competing priorities


Education and Experience

  • BA/BS or equivalent years of talent acquisition experience required
  • 10 years of talent acquisition experience required
  • Experience with geographically dispersed organizations preferred

COVID-19 Consideration

Because the health and safety of our employees and candidates is a top priority, we are currently conducting our hiring process virtually via phone or video. We are currently starting our positions as fully remote but will transition to hybrid on-site work when our offices re-open, expected to be in late summer 2022.
