Monday – Friday between the hours of 8am – 5pm (Physical attendance is required)


College/Department Overview

The Office of Library Advancement & Communications serves as a the fundraising arm of the Library and is responsible for Library communications and branding to ensure a consistent message to all our stakeholders. 


Position Overview

Student will assist staff or faculty in supporting the classrooms, labs, or departments.  Duties may include, setting up, picking up, and checking-in classroom items for classes.   May be requested to set-up audio/visual equipment, PowerPoint presentations, and/or computers for staff, faculty or students.


Department Specific Job Functions

  • Assist with book donation pick-up on campus
  • Unboxing, sorting, organizing, labeling, and shelving donated books for review by librarians
  • Creating inventories of donated materials for donors
  • Researching book values on Bookscouter and Amazon
  • Keeping book sale area organized and tidy
  • Assisting with set-up and breakdown of events
  • Distribution of Library advertising around campus
  • Deploying signage around the Library building

Enrollment Requirements

Fall/Spring Semesters: All student employees must be enrolled at least half time to be eligible to work any UCO student position. Half time enrollment for Fall/Spring is considered 5 hours for graduates and 6 hours for undergraduates.  International students shall be enrolled full time to be eligible to work as a student worker. Full time enrollment is 9 credit hours for graduates and 12 credit hours for undergraduates.

Summer Semester: All student employees must be enrolled in at least 3 credit hours to be eligible to work a regular student position. Students not enrolled in summer classes must be enrolled in Fall classes in order to work on campus, but they (and the department) will be required to pay FICA taxes.

Enrollment Exception: If the number of credit hours needed to graduate is less than the minimum number of hours required to work, the student must obtain a letter from his/her Academic Advisor, stating the number of hours needed to graduate, and submit it to Human Resources. This pertains to both regular and Federal Work Study positions. Contact for more information.


Qualifications/Experience Required

  • Organized with meticulous attention to detail
  • Familiarity with searching the Library online catalog


Qualifications/Experience Preferred

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Dependable and thorough
  • Knowledge of computer technology, particularly Microsoft Office
