Summary of Position

The Student Ministry Director leads The Summit Church in its mission to make disciples who make disciples for those in grades 5-12 by providing direction, vision, leadership, energy, and oversight to the ministry.  The Student Ministry Director will manage church wide operations for student ministry and create a culture of excellence in all facets of ministry execution. This person will also supervise the Central Kids Pastor. 


Qualifications and Requirements

  • A member of The Summit Church or willing and able to become a member.

  • Passionate about reaching the next generation with the gospel and seeing them formed into healthy disciples of Christ who can then reach the following generation with the gospel. 

  • Deep knowledge of the Bible both intellectually and personally.

  • Thorough knowledge and insight on family ministry trends. 

  • Proven leader with ability to cast vision and develop student leaders. 

  • Must be operationally and organizationally gifted. 

  • Strong in evaluation and problem solving.

  • A strong team player who is able to collaborate across the organization.

  • Must have at least 5 years of experience in leading a successful team.



  • Build a culture of excellence in the student ministry by:

    • Living the DNA of the Summit Church in the student ministry context

    • Consistently and winsomely communicating the vision of student ministry to the campus staff and communicating clarity around what and how we do student ministry at the The Summit Church

    • Creating and tracking standards of excellence in all areas that are benchmarks for success. Examples include small groups, campus elevate, volunteer recruitment and training, local school ministry, critical events (camp, Elevate United, retreats, mission trips)

    • Developing, equipping, and coaching staff so that they are consistently growing in their ability to make disciples in the student context 

    • Coaching student teams to think creatively and resourcefully for all ministry environments 

    • Listening to the feedback of staff, volunteers, and parents on the effectiveness of Summit’s student ministry

  • Supervise the Kids Pastor/Director and coach them to build the same culture in kids ministry. 

  • Assist in the planning, leading, and carrying out of ministry across all campuses 

    • Retreats, Summer Camp, Mission Trips, etc. 

    • All Church Elevate

    • Curriculum Development

  • Visit, serve, and evaluate student events across the church with the goal to give feedback on the execution of the ministry plan to student directors at least 3x a year. 

  • Be a part of the ministry at the campus they attend in tangible and visible ways through serving at events, teaching students, and coaching key leaders.
