Upper and/or Middle School substitute teachers facilitate hands-on projects, promote collaboration among students, and prompt students to reflect on their classroom work. These teachers are attuned to the specific learning needs and social and emotional development of each student. Westminster substitute teachers are more than academic experts, serving as coaches, advisors, and inspirational mentors.
Supervisor: Division Head
Position Status: Daily rate, exempt, part-time, temporary, as needed
Hours of Work: Standard work week.
- Provide instruction.
- Manage the classroom environment.
- Promote student learning in the absence of the regular classroom teacher.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Experience working with children is preferred.
- Proficiency with instructional technology.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle and feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl; talk and hear; and engage in moderately strenuous physical activity both indoors and out.. The employee may occasionally lift or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to become CPR and First Aid Certified.
Travel is not required in this position.
