Membership Consultants create strong relationship with prospects, and new and existing members, with the goal of selling and upselling the appropriate offerings. They maintain and convey excellent facility-wide knowledge to build members confidence, service members at a high level, and capitalize on all sale opportunities. 


Role & Responsibilities

As an integral member of the Chelsea Piers Fitness team, the Membership Consultant will build the club’s high-quality membership base through an aggressive sales effort.

The Membership Sales Consultant will be responsible for: 


  • Adoption of relationship-based sales philosophy focused on information discovery
  • Prospecting, lead generation, and building of referral business
  • Sale of new memberships
  • Mastery of all member opportunities within the club; connecting new members to areas of interest to set them up for success and long-term membership
  • Working cohesively with a team of Membership Sales Consultants and a Sales Director to be successful individually and as a team
  • Establishing a strong sales pipeline, meeting sales objectives and collaborating with a team to achieve the overall goals of the business
  • Managing select events geared towards engaging the membership base and/or generating interest in and excitement around the club
  • Serving as a visible and active goodwill ambassador with members and at select special events
  • Delivering superior customer service with an aim towards member retention


  • A four-year degree from an accredited college or university, preferred
  • Analysis and understanding of key business metrics that directly impact membership growth
  • Self-motivated/entrepreneurial spirit with an outgoing, diligent and affable disposition
  • Superior customer service skills; excellent and clear communication skills, both verbal and written; strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Passion for fitness with a team-first mentality
  • Ability to work on nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • 1+ years of Membership Sales experience, preferably in a high-end fitness environment
  • All Chelsea Piers employees must be vaccinated for COVID-19 or willing to get their series of shots as a pre-condition of hire. 
    • Employees can request exemptions from the COVID-19 vaccination requirement for medical or religious reasons. These will be handled on a case-by-case basis.
