Summary of Position

Strives to worship God and disciple worshipers by embodying and executing the Summit Worship DNA. Leads congregation in corporate worship working alongside the Campus Pastor and Central Ministries. Develops and oversees all of the campus prayer ministries. 

 

Qualifications and Requirements

  • A commitment to servant leadership (Mk. 10:45; Col. 3:23-24).

  • A proven proficiency in basic music theory and practice vocally and instrumentally.

  • A commitment to the biblical priority of congregational singing (Eph. 5:18-19; Col. 3:16).

  • The theological competency to choose music for congregational settings that are distinctly and clearly Christian in its lyrics and reflect the biblical language and themes.

  • Administrative proficiency.

  • A member or willing and able to become a member of The Summit Church.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Serve The Summit Church (9 hrs per week)

    • Plan congregational worship gatherings that are God-exalting, Christ-centered, and Bible-saturated. Lead worship at weekly worship gatherings at least 42 weekends a year

  • Build, develop, and manage the campus worship ministry. (2 hrs per week)

    • Recruiting and auditioning prospective team members

    • Provide on-going training for musicians and vocalists

  • Leading and coaching preparations for scheduled weekly worship gatherings (3 hrs per week)

    • Prayerfully create and execute weekly worship plans that embody Summit Worship DNA.

    • Coordinate details with pastoral (campus and central) and production staff.

  • Creating moments and arranging music for scheduled weekend gatherings (3 hrs per week)

  • Discipleship and Leader development (2 hrs per week)

    • Direct and Indirect discipleship of worship & production ministries.

    • Identifying & equipping potential worship leaders in conjunction with the Pastor of Worship.

  • Support and contribute to Summit Worship staff team and Campus Team (5 hrs per week)

    • Attend and actively contribute to all Summit Worship meetings.

    • Contribute to The Summit Church Staff events, both internal (All Staff, Prayer & Vision nights) and external (DPAC, RedHat, etc). Lead at least 3 additional church-wide events per year, as assigned by Worship Pastor (Summer Camp, VBS, and Women’s Conference: 3 hrs per week)

  • Serve The Summit Church Campus Ministry Events (3 hrs per week)

    • Lead in worship organization for North Durham Campus ministry events (Campus Prayer & Worship Nights, Men’s Worship Night, Family Worship Nights). 

    • Connect with ministry team leaders to determine worship responsibilities for campus events. 

    • Recruit worship team to lead at events. 

  • Serve The Summit Church Student Ministry (7 hrs per week) 

    • Lead Worship for major student ministry events (Camp, Fall Retreat, Elevate United)

    • Equip, build, and manage student worship teams. 

    • Provide on-going training for student ministry musicians and vocalists. 

    • Prayerfully create and execute weekly worship plans for Elevate services. 

    • Lead prayer and discipleship efforts of the student ministry worship team. 

  • Prayer (3 Hours Per Week)
    • Supports and contributes to a healthy culture of prayer for the entire campus. Including leading on-line and in-person prayer events.
    • Recruits prayer partners (staff, elders, members) for every area of campus ministry.
    • Oversees and coordinates the Boiler Room volunteers.
    • Coordinating prayer follow-up from weekend and on-line requests.
