Northern Rivers is seeking an Science Teacher for one of its schools.  This position is responsible for the development and implementation of Science classroom instructional plans for students. In this role, you will provide subject area instruction (Science) that follow the NYS K-12 Science Curricula and prepare students for exit examinations and statewide assessments.  You will also develop and implement:

  • Science instructional materials to provide individual and small group instruction to students of various ability levels, and at the high school level develop, teach, and assess laboratory experiences for Earth Science, Living Environment, and Chemistry,
  • Classroom instructional plans with the Special Education Teacher (SET) that integrates the student’s IEP goals and objectives, learning style, as well as accommodations and modifications that are needed, and
  • Work with the Special Education Teacher (SET) on individual and classroom behavior plans for managing student behavior to maintain discipline in the classroom.


  • Master’s degree in Special Education or subject area, as appropriate, and ability to work with students who demonstrate serious emotional and behavioral challenges, ages 6-21.
  • Bachelor’s degree with enrollment in a program that leads to a Master’s degree may be considered.


  • NYS certification in Special Education or appropriate subject area.
