Summary of position:


The Senior G/L Accountant is responsible for comprehensive accounting support for the books of the Chamber’s various companies.  This position reports to and assists the Senior Director of Finance in all areas of the Chamber’s financial operations.


Responsibilities include:


  • Prepare / review monthly account analyses for balance sheet accounts and reconcile to corresponding sub-ledgers / subsidiary general ledger accounts for all entities.
  • Prepare reconciliations to bank statements for all cash accounts.
  • Write-up, enter and post necessary standard, recurring and re-class journal entries for month-end and year-end closing.
  • Calculate monthly A/R bad debt adjustments and process related journal entries.
  • Maintain membership financial information in CRM and posting in A/R module of the Chamber’s accounting software.
  • Generate MAC membership renewal invoices and miscellaneous other billing invoices as needed.
  • Reconcile A/R Aging Report each month to the general ledger and enter any necessary adjusting entries.
  • Prepare daily and/or weekly cash transmittal reports for payments received.
  • Prepare reconciliations of key balance sheet accounts each month.
  • Assist the Senior Director of Finance with the preparation of monthly “Preliminary” individual and consolidated financial statements for multiple entities by 8th business day following month end.
  • Assist with finalization of financial statements and reports.  Produce consolidated, company and department financial reports for distribution and online drilldown by the 10th business day following month-end.
  • Maintain files of journal entries for each company.
  • Maintain files of financial reports for each company.
  • Prepare and update fixed asset depreciation and amortization schedules at year end.
  • Assist Director of Finance in preparation of annual audit schedules.
  • Assist Director of Finance in preparation of year end internal financial reports as well as necessary final adjustments for the annual audit.
  • Assist the Director of Finance with the annual budget process.
  • Provide customer service related to financial / accounting matters to all divisions and departments within the Chamber.
  • Import all corporate Visa transactions from IntelliLink into Excel for the creation of the journal entry to post monthly activity to the general ledger after review by A/P Manager.
  • Provide back up to the A/P Manager when needed in processing of weekly A/P check runs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

A candidate must possess the following qualifications to be considered for this position.  The requirements/qualifications indicated below are essential to the performance of the work. 


Education and/or Experience:

  • 6-8 years of verifiable experience General Ledger accounting for multi-entity organization.
  • Four-year accounting degree preferred.
  • Experience in “Non-Profit” environment a plus, but not required.
  • Excellent social, written and verbal communication skills a must for dealing with internal and external customers.


Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • No formal certifications required.


Computer/Software Skills:

  • Must have advanced PC proficiency in use of Windows/MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.) operating environment.  Heavy use of Excel required for job function.
  • Epicor – Platinum or eBackoffice useful but not required.
  • Advanced, hands-on design, revision and execution  of financial report writer software is highly preferred.

  • Ability to work and produce in a flexible, fast-paced and demanding work environment with minimal supervision and direction.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage time to meet deliverables and deadlines.
