Position Overview:

In collaboration with the Sr. Director of Product Development, this position is expected to be a key business contributor for the company by defining product specifications, creating digital or print drawings, and designing fully functional products. The ideal candidate will have a successful track record of managing design projects from concept to completion; meeting creative timelines; hitting key client expectations and demonstrate creative problem solving around consumers needs.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

• Create drawings, sketches, and renderings to convey new concepts and ideas to engineering, marketing, packaging and management.
• Create 3D mock-ups and kit-bashed models to communicate scale and function if necessary.
• Prepare control drawings, parts lists and descriptions for the construction of prototypes and tooling models.
• Work on concept development with an understanding of cost and the mechanical engineering aspects of product development.
• Apply industrial design excellence in the application of color and creation of fit, form and function.
• Manage daily communications with Hong Kong engineering team.
• Participate in formal and informal reviews and brainstorming sessions to generate new product ideas.
• Work as a team player with cross functional awareness and respect.
• Work with outside vendors to supplement internal development resources.

Skills, knowledge and abilities:

Bachelors degree or equivalent from accredited industrial design, toy design or related degree.

• 5+ years experience in professional industrial design in the toy industry.
• Someone whos willing to do all parts of the product development process as well as manage the daily communications with our Hong Kong engineering team
• Ability to take a project from concept designs through to full production specification.

• Have a curious and creative attitude and demonstrate creative problem solving around consumers needs.
• Have a passion for toys and toy trends, while staying up to date with popular culture, social media and new media platforms to influence designs and creative expressions in the workplace.
• Possess sketching skills with a high ability to conceive and clearly communicate 3D objects in 2D space.
• Possess great sense of aesthetics with the ability to identify the essence of a style and apply it to form across a variety of different style brands.
• Possess excellent communication skills, capable of articulating intelligent design solutions, project details, creative problem solving with a passion to succeed.
• Ability to be highly functioning with minimal direction while enjoying the ability to learn all aspects of the business.
• Must be skillful in presenting and communicating designs and problem-solving abilities to a multi-discipline development team and company executives.
• Be proficient in Illustrator and Photoshop programs.
• Have knowledge of Word, Excel, and Power Point.
• Solid Works, Key Shot, and 3D software experience are a plus.
