Who You Are

 

You are an effective team member experienced in archaeological and/or paleontological monitoring, surveys and documentation of archaeological, and/or paleontological resources in accordance with applicable local, state, and federal guidelines and requirements. You live in San Diego, Orange, or Riverside County. 

 

You hold a Bachelor’s degree in archaeology/anthropology/paleontology or related field and have a valid driver’s license.

 

You are familiar with working on active construction sites, completing DPR forms and are knowledgeable of archaeological materials common to the region and have a minimum of one year of field experience in Southern California 

 

You have the ability to work in a wide variety of field conditions (weather, terrain, etc.) and are able to work some nights and/or weekends.

 

What You Will Do for ESA

 

ESA is looking for Variable Part Time archaeological field technicians to support field projects in Southern California. Qualified candidates should have a minimum of 1 year of monitoring experience and demonstrate the ability to perform all aspects of archaeological and/or paleontological monitoring and familiarity working on construction sites, coordinating with construction personnel, and interacting with Native American monitors. Successful candidates will fulfill the following duties:

 

  • Monitor construction activities and identify archaeological and/or paleontological resources
  • Effectively communicate with construction crews and project personnel
  • Write and maintain written daily survey, monitoring, recordation, and cataloging logs, including utilizing electronic data collection tools and GIS mapping applications
