Newport Restaurant Group is looking for a highly skilled Benefits & Compensation Manager.

About the Position:    A key part of the Benefits & Compensation Manager role includes identifying opportunities for improvement in HR processes and systems, implementing innovative solutions, and fostering a positive and inclusive work environment. You will be responsible for overseeing all benefit and compensation plan administration, including the development of various employee wellness programs such as multi-tiered medical and dental plans, PTO, leave of absence, and worker’s compensation for a 1,500+ employee workforce. The Benefits & Compensation Manager is also responsible for the maintenance and evolution of the company’s compensation plan. The position will require you to think strategically to solve complex problems and to plan and maneuver in an ever-changing fast-paced environment. 

Supervisory: This role is responsible for the work of 1-2 employees - including performance, competency and contribution

About You: You are a driving force with critical thinking skills, anticipating trends, identifying opportunities, and able to make decisions that align with both current needs and future growth, balancing short-term priorities with long-term objectives. You are independent and able to prioritize high-level work for yourself and those you supervise. Working well under pressure, you have a high degree of attention to detail, and are able to pivot quickly as needs arise. You are able to truly lead the department and collaborate with senior management and other internal stakeholders to ensure alignment of benefits programs with broader company initiatives.

 

  • Research and recommend new benefit programs, plan designs and policies to present to senior leadership and implement across a diverse workforce, implementing annual changes including system updates and communication
  • Oversee the work done with vendors to resolve any service concerns, working closely with brokers to secure annual benefit plan renewals, including cost analysis and alternative plan design
  • Determine and review annual employee benefit eligibility, and ensure proper communication to employees, managers and Payroll
  • Monitoring and ensuring compliance and employee satisfaction regarding general benefit administration support (i.e. enrollments, transfers, and terminations), utilizing metrics to evaluate effectiveness and make data-driven decisions
  • Prepare budget and reforecast data for all benefit programs and present monthly analysis of HRA statistics, Worker’s Compensation, and other relevant KPIs
  • Benefit program preparation for new acquisitions as the company continues to grow, and property renovations
  • Chair the safety committee and be the leader for all safety efforts across the company, Oversee Worker’s Compensation plan administration
  • Be the go-to expert, knowledgeable in all Federal and State laws, developing policy recommendations for new laws regarding benefits and compensation
  • Oversee and be the leading resource for the Benefits and Leave Specialist regarding review of all LOA and accommodation requests to ensure compliance with State, Federal, and internal programs
  • Provide detailed guidance to Operations on leave of absence and ADA related accommodations
  • Generate and proof all required compliance reporting i.e. ACA, OSHA, EEO1, HIRD, Non-Discrimination, etc.
  • Update at least annually, the company compensation plan. Research and advise on compensation programs as necessary, while maintaining Job Titles/Job Descriptions/Pay Grade Matrix

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year College / University and 10 years of experience in benefits and compensation management
  • 5 years of experience in the supervision and management of others
  • Proficiency in MS products (word, office, excel, powerpoint etc.) with the ability to create complex reports

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills for complex situationsExcellent communication, both written and oral, and interpersonal skills
  • Must be highly analytical, with tremendous problem-solving abilities
