We are looking for a dedicated and driven Procurement Manager/ Buyer to join our incredible team!  This role is an integral part of the Supply Chain team and will require someone with demonstrated experience of evaluating suppliers, negotiating supplier agreements, and managing supplier and vendor contracts. This individual will continuously monitor what the company purchases, delivers, and spends to determine if goods are defective or not meeting performance demands.


Role Description 

The Procurement Manager will oversee sourcing and managing of all ingredients and materials in Soylent’s supply chain and is responsible for strategizing to find cost-effective deals and suppliers. This position manages and controls the purchasing, delivery logistics, and consumption of materials for production.  They will also be responsible for managing ingredient and material inventory levels, ensuring correct inventory accuracy, and maintaining rolling ingredient forecasts to support the production schedule.  This position will need to find the best ways to cut procurement expenses to allow us to further invest in growth and people.



  • Maintain the purchasing and planning platforms. Manage and control inventory levels to ensure accuracy, meet demand, and minimize financial risk

  • Coordinate cycle counts of all physical inventory with necessary personnel to support proper purchasing and selling decisions

  • Perform ongoing and periodic reviews of inventory shrinkage history, following up as necessary on trends of concern

  • Determine appropriate order points and performing periodic re-evaluations

  • Escalate any stock discrepancies to suppliers and management

  • Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve the effectiveness

  • Collaborate with key persons to ensure clarity of the specifications and expectations of the company

  • Track orders to ensure timely delivery

  • Expect unfavorable events through analysis of data and prepare control strategies

  • Control spend and build a culture of long-term savings on procurement costs

  • Develop procurement strategies that are inventive and cost-effective

  • Source and engage with reliable suppliers and vendors

  • Reviewing existing contracts with suppliers and vendors to ensure on-going feasibility

  • Building and maintaining long-term relationships with vendors and suppliers

  • Performing risk assessments on potential contracts and agreements

  • Discover profitable suppliers and initiate business and organization partnerships

  • Negotiate with external vendors to secure advantageous terms

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 4+ years of professional experience

  • Proven working experience as a Procurement Manager, Procurement Officer or Head of Procurement

  • Knowledge of sourcing and procurement techniques as well as a skill in “reading” the market

  • Proficient in Google Suite 

  • Experience in Netsuite or similar ERP system

  • Aptitude in decision-making and working with numbers

  • Experience in collecting and analyzing data

  • Multi-tasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks.

  • Highly organized and detail-oriented

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
